Shopify store development

A custom Shopify store, built to earn.

Strategy, design, development and launch are all mine. You bring the product and the vision; I turn them into a store that looks like a brand and sells like a machine.

Operator experience

I do not build stores from a desk. I ran one myself.

I ran my own Shopify store for three years – Black Friday with real cash flow on the line, Meta Ads dying mid-season – before selling it in 2024. That experience is in every store I build: I know what turns a website into a business rather than a good-looking business card.

Stores built

Complete stores, built from zero.

No mockups. Stores I built from the ground up – click through them live.

Why Shopify

Why build the store on Shopify specifically.

I build on Shopify exclusively – because a store on it never hits a ceiling. Four reasons, not marketing.

The highest-converting checkout

Shopify states its checkout converts up to 15 % better than the competition. One-page, Shop Pay and express payments – the fewest steps from cart to order, exactly where the sale is won or lost.

Features without a ceiling

Shopify does not tie your hands: alongside 16,000+ apps you get full access to the code. The store never runs into “the platform cannot do that” – it grows with your ambition rather than against it.

Ready for expansion

Shopify Markets: up to 20 languages, 130+ currencies and a dedicated domain per market from a single account. Expansion stays open even if it only comes years later.

Speed that holds at peak

Auto-scaling and a global CDN. Shopify reports an average uptime of 99.99 % – the site does not fall over at the moment you are selling most.

What you get

A complete turnkey store. From strategy to the first order.

You are not buying a template with your logo on it. You get a store built from the ground up around your brand and your customers.

Strategy & architecture

Before the first pixel is drawn, I know who you sell to and why they will buy from you.

  • Competitive and product analysis
  • Information architecture and category structure
  • Wireframes for the key pages

Design tailored to your brand

Your identity in every detail – so the store looks like your brand, not like everyone else’s.

  • UI design for every key page
  • A product page built around conversion
  • Mobile-first, tuned to the last detail

Development in Liquid

Custom code, not a jigsaw of ten apps. A fast storefront that holds up on Black Friday.

  • Custom sections and pages in Liquid
  • Features a theme cannot do – built around how you sell
  • Speed and Core Web Vitals treated as a priority

Connected to how Europe actually buys

Everything a European store needs, connected from the start – not bolted on after launch.

  • Shopify Payments plus the local methods people trust – iDEAL, Klarna, Bancontact, Blik
  • Carriers and parcel lockers per market – DHL, DPD, GLS, InPost
  • VAT and OSS, invoicing through Xero, Lexoffice or DATEV, email in Klaviyo

Launch & 30 days of support

A live launch without drama, and a month where I am on hand.

  • Final testing and a clean switchover
  • Handover with everything documented
  • 30 days of support included, then on a retainer
How it runs

Four phases. Clear milestones. No surprises.

Every project is different; the frame is not. Typically 2 to 12 weeks depending on scope. You approve as we go, at milestones, not at the end.

  1. 01
    Discovery & strategy

A deep consultation, goals, an analysis of where you are now, and the architecture of the store. I know who you sell to and why they will buy.

  2. 02
    Bespoke design

The visual design of the store, built to your brand. You approve the key screens as they land, not at the end.

  3. 03
    Development & integrations

The build in Liquid, custom features and the connections to payments, shipping and invoicing. Staging is open to you from day one.

  4. 04
    Launch & support

Final testing, a live launch and a clean handover into your hands.

What it costs

I talk about price straight.

Roughly: a simpler store lands in the low thousands of euros, a complex custom build in the low tens of thousands. I will name a firm number once I know what I am building – here is what drives it, and what running it actually costs.

And what running it costs

Beyond the build itself, budget for the monthly run cost – the Shopify plan plus a handful of apps (carriers, feeds, invoicing). For a typical store that lands in the low hundreds of euros a month depending on the mix. Card rates differ per market and per payment method.

Talk it through

What drives the build price

  • How much of the design is bespoke – from a tuned theme with custom code to a store designed from scratch
  • How many features go beyond the standard – the more bespoke, the more development
  • The number and depth of integrations – payments, carriers, warehouse, accounting, marketplaces
  • Migrating data from your current platform – products, customers, orders
  • The number of products and of language or currency variants

An indicative estimate in writing within 24 hours · no commitment

No risk

You know what you are walking into.

Scope and price agreed upfront

Before I start building you get the scope and the price in writing. I do not start anything we have not agreed – no surprises on the invoice.

I do not count rounds of feedback

I keep tuning until it sits right. As long as the agreed scope does not change, I do not bill every tweak separately.

I will tell you when it does not make sense

If a simpler store is enough, I will propose that. I will never sell you more than you need.

Common questions

Before we agree – almost everyone asks these.

What does a custom Shopify store cost?

Roughly: a simpler store lands in the low thousands of euros, a complex custom build in the low tens of thousands. There is no price list, because the number follows the scope – send me a few sentences about what you want to sell and within 24 hours you will have an indicative estimate in writing. Free, no call, no strings.

How does payment work? Is there a deposit?

A project starts with a deposit – usually 30 to 50 % depending on scope – and the rest is split into milestones. You never pay upfront for work that does not exist yet. The exact split and due dates are in the offer in writing before I touch the first pixel.

How long does building a Shopify store take?

A new store from zero typically takes 2 to 12 weeks. It depends on scope and on how quickly you come back with feedback and materials. You get a schedule with milestones in the initial offer, so you know what you are approving and when.

We have a large catalogue and sell in several markets. Can you handle that?

Yes. The size of a store does not decide how many people build it – how it is built does. Product data is imported in bulk, several markets and currencies are handled by Shopify Markets, and B2B price lists or a warehouse and ERP connection are part of the brief rather than an add-on. The core – strategy, design and development – is mine. On genuinely large projects I bring in specialists I have worked with for years, but I run the project from start to finish. What grows with size is not the headcount; it is the time for data preparation and testing, and that is in the estimate.

What do we have to supply?

Less than you expect. I need the product and product photography, your goals, and access to whatever exists already – the domain, analytics, possibly the current store. I will design the brand if you do not have one, and I write the copy for the key pages: I want to be accountable for the outcome, not just the looks. If you would rather write it yourself, that is fine. You get the list of what I need and by when in the first week, not at the moment it starts blocking the project.

We already have a store elsewhere. Can you move it?

Yes, and it is a large part of what I do – WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopware, Magento, BigCommerce. The part that decides whether a migration succeeds is not the product data; it is the URL mapping and the redirects. Done properly, rankings hold.

Will it work across several European countries?

Yes, and it is the part most builds get wrong. Multiple currencies and languages through Shopify Markets, VAT and the OSS scheme, carriers per market and the payment methods people actually trust in each country. A store that works in one country is easy; one that survives a border is the work.

What happens after launch?

Thirty days of support are included – the period when real traffic finds the things testing does not. After that we either go our separate ways or continue on a retainer, depending on what the store needs.

Who owns the store and the code?

You do. Everything is built on standard Shopify and under your account, so I am holding nothing hostage. If you want to take it elsewhere, you can.

Do you guarantee sales?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. I guarantee the method and the craft: what is in the offer is what you get. Revenue depends on the product, the market and the budget, and I do not control those.
