Redesign & custom development

A new design and bespoke features, without a minute of downtime.

A Shopify developer for stores already trading: redesign, product pages, custom Liquid sections and features a theme cannot do – shipped so the store never stops selling.

  • No lost revenue
  • Bespoke design, to the last pixel
  • Custom code instead of expensive apps

Who builds it

I write the code, but I think like an operator.

I ran my own Shopify store for three years. I know what it means to touch a store that is selling right now: every change has to help something and must break nothing. That is how I approach every redesign and every new feature.

I came into stores like Töpfer and Aniball as a bespoke developer – without knocking over what already worked.

Live

The same page. Designed differently.

The Aniball product page at the same URL – with the structure and the selling logic completely rebuilt.

Reviews, price context and trust elements – the page had none of them before.

What I do for you

From one section to a complete redesign.

You do not have to rebuild everything at once. I will take a single page – or redo the whole store. Always bespoke, always in your style.

Redesign while trading

A new look that reads like your brand and sells better at the same time. The store does not lose a minute: I work on a copy of the theme and switch once it is finished.

  • Rebrand or modernising a dated look
  • Aesthetics and selling, not one without the other
  • A switch with no downtime and no data loss

Custom sections in Liquid

I design new sections and pages myself – around your product and around selling. Built so you can manage the content in the editor afterwards.

  • Sections designed to your brand, not picked from a catalogue
  • Editable in the theme editor without a developer
  • Reusable across pages

Product pages that sell

The most important page of a store. I build it around the product and around the buying decision – from section order to selling features.

  • Bespoke product pages built for conversion
  • Bundles, upsell and cross-sell on the page itself
  • Subscriptions and a gift with the order
  • Mobile-first – most purchases come from a phone

Features a theme cannot do

When the standard is not enough, I build the feature – the thing neither a theme nor an app can do. And when a proven app is genuinely the right answer (shipping, invoicing), I say so; I build bespoke where it pays back.

  • Product configurators and guided selling
  • Custom filters, calculators, loyalty logic
  • B2B price lists and wholesale where needed

Integrations, feeds and several markets

Payments, carriers, warehouse, accounting, marketplaces and Shopify Markets for more languages and countries.

  • Carriers and parcel lockers per market, marketplace feeds, invoicing
  • Warehouse and ERP – through a proven app or bespoke over the API
  • Geo-redirects and market-specific content

Speed instead of a pile of apps

Ten apps stacked on each other slow a store down – each adds a script and a monthly fee. Whatever affects speed or sales, I rewrite into code.

  • Replacing slow apps with custom code
  • Core Web Vitals treated as a priority
  • A clean storefront that holds up at peak
How I think about it

Good-looking is not enough. It has to sell.

Design without a reason is decoration. This is how I approach the work.

I analyse rather than guess

Before I touch the code I go through the store and the data – on the existing design I look at heatmaps and session recordings (Clarity, for instance) to see where people drop off. The new design is then built on what I saw, not on an impression.

Code, not a pile of apps

I will install a proven app where it fits. But whatever is central to your selling belongs in code – not in another plugin that is both a monthly cost and a drag on speed.

Craft that matters

I design the solution myself, out of the analysis, so it fits your brand and your conversion. For larger pieces that means a full Figma design; for smaller ones a quick sketch and straight into code. Either way it goes into Liquid exactly, not approximately.

Real work

Custom development in a running store.

Two stores I came into as a developer – not from zero, but as a substantial rebuild while they kept trading. Both live, click through them.

Aniball

From the flagship product page to every PDP, the cart and the cross-sell. New structure, design and bespoke logic.

How it runs

Four steps. The store keeps selling.

Whether it is one section or a whole redesign, the frame does not change. You approve at milestones, not at the end.

  1. 01
    Analysis

I go through the store and the data and find where you are losing people. Out of it comes what to change and in what order.

  2. 02
    Design

The solution designed to your brand – a full Figma design for larger pieces, a quick sketch for smaller ones. You approve before anything is built.

  3. 03
    Build on a copy

Development happens on a copy of the theme, so the live store is untouched. You can see the work in progress the whole time.

  4. 04
    Switch and check

The switch takes minutes. Then I watch how the change behaves on real traffic and tune it.

What it costs

I talk about price straight.

Individual changes and single sections land in the hundreds to low thousands of euros; a complete store redesign in the low tens of thousands depending on scope. I will name a firm number once I know exactly what I am dealing with.

What drives the price

  • Scope – one section, a specific feature, or a redesign of the whole store
  • Complexity of the logic – bundles, subscriptions or B2B price lists take more work than a static section
  • How much of the design is bespoke – from adjusting the existing look to designing from scratch in Figma
  • The number and depth of integrations – payments, warehouse, accounting, feeds, several markets
  • Whether you supply the designs or I create them

How I bill it

Smaller, clearly bounded pieces – one section, a specific feature – I can price fixed upfront, so you know exactly what you are walking into. For a larger redesign, where the scope is refined as we go, I work to agreed milestones. I do not start anything until the scope and the price are with you in writing.

Common questions

Before we start – these come up most often.

Will the store be down during the redesign?

No. I work on a copy of the theme, so the live store is untouched the whole time. The switch itself takes minutes and I schedule it for the quietest hour of your week.

Will a redesign hurt our SEO?

A redesign is a different situation from a migration: the URLs stay the same, so there is nothing to redirect and no rankings to carry across. What does change is content and structure, so I keep the headings, meta data and internal links intact unless improving them is part of the brief.

What does it cost?

Individual changes and single sections land in the hundreds to low thousands of euros; a complete redesign in the low tens of thousands. Send me the store URL and what is bothering you, and within 24 hours you will have an indicative estimate in writing.

Can you do just one section?

Yes, and a lot of engagements start that way. Aniball began with a single product page and grew into every product page, the cart and the cross-sell. One section is a perfectly normal brief.

We use a lot of apps. Should we replace them?

Not all of them. Shipping, invoicing and analytics are things a proven app does well and there is no reason to rebuild them. What is worth moving into code is whatever is central to your selling or slows the store down – each app adds a script and a monthly fee.

We have our own designs. Will you build them?

Yes, and pixel for pixel. That is exactly the Töpfer arrangement – their designers supply the Figma, I turn it into Liquid. If you do not have designs, I create them.

Do we have to change theme?

Usually not. I work inside your existing theme unless it is so old or so heavily modified that building on it costs more than replacing it. If that is the case, I will tell you and explain why.

How long does it take?

A single section is usually days; a product page a week or two; a complete redesign four to eight weeks. You get a schedule with milestones in the offer.

Who owns the code?

You do. Everything lives in your Shopify account and your theme. If you want to continue with someone else, there is nothing stopping you.

What happens when it is finished?

You get the work documented, so whoever touches it next knows what was done and why. If you want me to stay on for further changes, we set up a retainer; if not, we part ways and that is fine.
